Help Them, They Can't Ask...

Introduction:

Friends of the MIND is group of people who are dedicated to the cause of mental health. It aims to create awareness, provide medication and facilitate the rehabilitation of people living with mental diseases and disabilities, psychological and emotional problems and/or dependent on narcotics.

The organization was formalized in September 2004, being registered as an NGO with Social Welfare Directorate, NWFP under registration number DSW/NWFP/2379 operating under the name of Friends of the MIND. It is non-governmental, not for profit, non-political and welfare organization, organized and run by volunteers, and relies solely upon the generosity of donors to pursue its aims.

Mission:

The Friends of the MIND is committed to achieve its objectives with a broad based strategy "to cover social problems emanating from the prevalence of mental diseases/narcotic dependency in the society besides psychological/emotional health, human rights and gender issues"

Objectives:

The FOM aims at achieving its mission through the following objectives:

  • To provide medication, create awareness and facilitate rehabilitation for mentally ill
  • To educate, medicate and rehabilitate the narcotic dependents in the community
  • To support, mobilize and motivate such men, women and children suffering from psychological and emotional health problems
  • To sensitize the masses and professionals towards effective implementation of the Mental Health Ordinance 2001
  • To develop linkages with Sarhad Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases and other related institutions, Government Organizations, NGOs in Pakistan and overseas
